WABC’s Curtis Sliwa Considering Run for Governor of New York. New York icon and WABC midday talk show host Curtis Sliwa on Thursday (4/26) told his listeners that he is considering running for governor of New York on the Reform Party ticket. Sliwa is chairman of the Reform Party and he’s been very critical of Governor Andrew Cuomo and, as the New York Daily News notes, the Reform Party is not backing either GOP candidate. Sliwa says getting medical clearance from his doctors is the first priority. He’s been dealing with the effects of chronic Crohn’s and a recent surgery to treat the disease. As far as taking a leave from his radio show due to equal time laws, the timing on that would have to be worked out, he says. “New York State election laws are complicated and arcane.”
