Saga to Acquire Lafayette, Indiana Cluster from Neuhoff

Saga Communications announces that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of Neuhoff Communications’ Lafayette, Indiana radio stations sports talk WASK-AM, country WKOA-FM, rock WKHY-FM, classic hits WASK-FM, CHR WXXB-FM, and FM translator W269DJ for $5.3 millionim. Saga Communications president and CEO Chris Forgy comments, “We regretted missing the opportunity to acquire these stations a number of years ago when the Neuhoff family acquired them. These stations are a great fit for Saga. We see a lot of opportunity with these stations and this market and are pleased that the family has decided to entrust Saga with continuing these station’s long-standing heritage of serving the Greater Lafayette region. Saga intends to continue building its business in radio by identifying and acquiring middle market stations in dynamic communities.” KALIL & CO., INC was the exclusive broker.

Sarkes Tarzian Stations Unite Under ST Radio Banner

Indiana-based Sarkes Tarzian consolidates is six radio properties under the new banner ST Radio and will be led by Brad Holtz, who is named president of the group. He continue in his role as vice president of Sarkes Tarzian Inc. The company owns news/talk WGCL-AM, Bloomington, Indiana in addition to five music brands in the Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Fort Wayne markets. Holtz says, “Consolidating our Indiana radio properties into a single, unified group will make ST Radio more competitive while strengthening our core business. I welcome the opportunity to lead such a talented group of professionals across our three markets and I offer my humble gratitude to Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. for the faith they have placed in me.” Sarkes Tarzian, Inc also owns two television stations and a digital marketing unit.

Chicago Sports Talk Enters Syndication

STC Media, LLC announces that its flagship program, “Sports Talk Chicago,” begins syndication across radio and TV stations in Illinois and Indiana. The program, which boasts 18,500 YouTube subscribers and a dedicated podcast following, is now airing on six media outlets including WRPW-FM, Bloomington and WKAN, Kankakee, Illinois. Show host and STC Media president Jon Zaghloul says, “I couldn’t be more excited to expand ‘Sports Talk Chicago’ with such great partners. News/Talk Pro Kent Sterling Joins WGCL, Bloomington

News/talk and sports radio pro Kent Sterling joins Sarkes-Tarzian, Inc’s WGCL-AM/W245DP, Bloomington, Indiana as program director and host of the 7:00 am to 9:00 am “Sterling in the Morning” program. In announcing Sterling’s joining the station, the company says, “Kent Sterling spent six years majoring inParris Campbell - Indianapolis Colts journalism and minoring in fun at Indiana University where he met his wife, made lifelong friends, and learned about basketball from Bob Knight. He has spent his career in media hiring great talent and becoming a respected host himself.
