LOS ANGELES — Our thorough series of August 2020 ratings summaries kicks off with an overview of news stations and includes our first-ever incorporation of cume figures into a main format analysis.
The following scoreboards are comprised of news operations that rank in the top 20 (6+) in any of the 48 PPM-markets during the August 2020 ratings period (July 16 – August 12).
Half our news stations experience (6+) month-to-month improvement; three-quarters (75%) notch year-to-year gains.
Debuting as news panelists are WQLL, Baltimore and WNOH, Norfolk – affiliates of iHeartMedia’s Black Information Network (BIN), which bowed just over two months ago (6/30).
M-10 Broadcasting’s WQLL had been classic hits-oldies, while iHeartMedia-owned WNOH transitioned from alternative.
Ratings stats in this exclusive analysis are limited to stations paying Nielsen Audio for its data.
