LOS ANGELES — Our extensive four-part special feature summary of February 2018 ratings overviews concludes with commercial, English language news/talk outlets.
Sports talk facilities were highlighted last Wednesday (3/28); public news/talk on Thursday (3/29); and classic rock last Friday (3/30).
To be included in this summary, a PPM-market commercial, English language news/talker needs to register at least a .5 (6+) in the February 2018 ratings period, which covered February 1 – 28.
The ratings requirement for sports talk, public news/talk, and classic rock is a top-twenty finish (6+) in any PPM-market.
Albeit the methodology used is different among the genres, however, for comparison purposes, a commercial news/talk station in our February 2018 sample usually has a Monday-Sunday (6+) average-quarter-hour share of 3.24 and ranks fourteenth (#14.35), whereas a public news/talk outlet is 3.86/#10.61 (6+), and a representative qualifying sports/talk property is 2.64 #14.17 (6+).
Nielsen Audio releases audience estimates for facilities that subscribe to its services. Owing to that reason, ratings stats in this exclusive overview are limited to stations that pay Nielsen Audio for its data.
