A Walk Down Pop Music Memory Lane with Freddy Cannon. One of the true legends of the pop rock ‘n’ roll era, Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon is this week’s featured guest on the award-winning PodcastOne series “Up Close and Far Out with Michael Harrison.” Cannon rose to international stardom in the early 1960s with a string of memorable hit singles that included “Tallahassee Lassie,” “Way Down Yonder in New Orleans” and “Palisades Park” among many others. His records were known for their pounding drums, rhythmic guitars and vibrant Bob Crew (Four Seasons) production. Cannon has remained active as a rock ‘n’ roll oldies act to this very day. He has just released a novelty song (video and audio) titled “Svengoolie Stomp” for Halloween – dedicated to the iconic Saturday night television horror movie host Svengoolie seen nationally on MeTV (where it debuted last week). Harrison and Cannon talk about the early 60s pop era, amusement parks, horror films and more in a delightful, invigorating conversation that spans the coasts and the decades. Not to be missed by rock ‘n’ rollers of all ages!
