FIFTH ANNUAL NEW MEDIA SEMINAR™
A SMASHING SUCCESS!!
(AUDIO STREAMING MADE POSSIBLE BY AVFLYER
AND
THE FOLKS AT AUDIOCAST.)
NEW
YORK - The fifth annual edition of the TALKERS magazine New Media
Seminar -Talkers New York 2002 - was a smashing success. The fact
that a record crowd of 500-plus talk media industry professionals
attended this year's event at the trendy Hudson hotel in midtown Manhattan
shows the industry is hungry for the kind of information, networking,
optimism, and fun that are the staples of the New Media Seminar. The
weekend began with the Friday night cocktail party that was sponsored
by Talk America Radio Network. "Official Greeter," Jim Bohannon,
kicked off the seminar with a tease of things to come on Saturday
and some witty observations of the state of the talk industry. TARN
president, Paul Lyle, also addressed the partygoers and summarized
the recent changes that Talk America has undergone to help move it
to the next level of the talk radio network business.

Jim Bohannon was
the "official greeter" of the New Media Seminar.
Things got moving early Saturday morning as seminar-goers enjoyed a
delicious breakfast sponsored by Sabo Media before president Walter
Sabo began the opening workshop aptly titled, "Breakfast with Sabo."
Walter Sabo is a seminar favorite and this year was no different as
he picked various people out of the audience and asked them to speak
on a topic familiar to them. After hearing them tell their animated
and entertaining stories, Sabo pointed out that not one word was spoken
about politics!
Next,
TALKERS magazine legal editor and WBIX, Boston talk show host, attorney
Steven J.J. Weisman delivered a well-received presentation entitled,
"Dirty Words, Decency, Liability and the FCC" which answered
many of the questions that these issues present to talk broadcasters.

increase their prosperity through creative thinking. Joining Holland

Masters, CEO, Talk Radio Network; Harvey Nagler, vice president, CBS

historical figure when Westwood One's G. Gordon Liddy spoke about "Talk
Radio and the Tide of History." Liddy's observations of the industry
and his own personal history kept the crowd rapt and entertained, especially
when he noted that, as a career, "broadcasting is better than burglary."
