 |
| PRESIDENTIAL
DEBATE. Five leading conservative and five leading liberal radio talk
show hosts argued the issues and defended their candidates 11 days
before the election at the latest TALKERS magazine “Heritage
Forum” presented in conjunction with The Heritage Foundation
in Washington, DC. Pictured (l-r): Thom Hartmann, “The Thom

WASHINGTON –– In what was the most attended installment of
the TALKERS magazine forums at The Heritage Foundation to date, talk hosts
from both conservative and liberal perspectives debated the issues and
the qualifications of the presidential candidates before a capacity crowd
of 230 media professionals and Washington insiders.

The event was the 19th installment of the twice-yearly forums held at
the beautiful Allison Auditorium at The Heritage Foundation headquarters
in Washington, DC and it proved to be one of the most exciting as a debate
format pitting pro-Bush and pro-Kerry talk hosts was used for the first
time. TALKERS magazine publisher Michael Harrison moderated the debate,
leading the talk hosts through a high-energy examination of some of the
key points of the presidential campaign including the war in Iraq, the
war on terrorism, the economy and civil rights issues.
Television audiences from coast to coast watched as the event was broadcast
live on C-SPAN and then re-run over the weekend and into the following
week. Preparation for and execution of the debate was expertly handled
by The Heritage Foundation’s staff including vice president of communications
and marketing Rebecca Hagelin and senior media relations associate Chris
Kennedy.
The Heritage Foundation is the nation’s leading conservative think
tank and the fact that it opened its doors to a number of liberal talk
hosts to put on this debate shows how it is committed to bringing the
frank discussion of ideas from all political viewpoints to the public
through this event as well as its outstanding, ongoing commitment to talk
radio of all political stripes.

| FRESH VOICE.
Jones Radio Networks’ Stephanie Miller wowed the audience with
her humorous yet insightful approach to politics and lifestyle issues.
Miller is no stranger to radio (or television!) but recently re-entered
the scene as a hot, new syndicated talent through Ron Hartenbaum’s
WYD MediaManagement, Tom Athans’ Democracy Radio and JRN. Those
who saw her for the first time at The Heritage Foundation now know
she’s definitely a talent to watch. |
Participating in the debate were (in alphabetical order): Bill Bennett,
Salem Radio Network; Shmuley Boteach, Liberty Broadcasting; Alan Colmes,
Fox News; Dom Giordano, WPHT, Philadelphia; Michael Graham, WMAL, Washington;
Thom Hartman, “The Thom Hartmann Show;” Karen Hunter, WWRL,
New York; Lionel, WOR Radio Network; Steve Malzberg, WABC, New York; and
Stephanie Miller, Jones Radio Network.
