LOS ANGELES — Our extensive four-part series of August 2019 ratings recaps commences with a synopsis of all-news stations.

Clearly – the most obvious first question that needs to be addressed is whether all-news rebounded from a dreadful ratings period in which only one station in our eligible base logged a (6+) June 2019 – July 2019 improvement; so, read on to find out.

First though, the fine-print.

The following scoreboards reflect data from all-news properties that appear in the top 20 (6+) in August 2019, a sweep that covered July 18 – August 14.

Nielsen Audio releases audience estimates for facilities that subscribe to its services. As a result, ratings stats in this exclusive analysis are limited to stations paying that company for its data.

Owning all but three stations listed in this format overview, Entercom has a virtual monopoly on the all-news genre.

Non-Entercom all-news operations in this report are iHeartMedia’s WBZ-AM, Boston (also listed in Providence); WTOP-FM, Washington, DC (Hubbard Broadcasting); and KOMO, Seattle (Sinclair Broadcast Group).
