talkersten-logoTrump Transition/Cabinet Nominations Top News/Talk Story for Week of December 5-9.  The transition of the Trump Administration and President-Elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations tied for the most-talked-about stories on news/talk radio this week, landing atop the Talkers TenTM.  At #2 was the election recount efforts led by Green Party candidate Jill Stein.  Coming in at #3 was the “fake news” phenomenon and the related Pizzagate case, followed by Trump’s chat with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen and China’s reaction at #4.  The Talkers TenTM is a weekly chart of the top stories and people discussed on news/talk radio during the week and is the result of ongoing research from TALKERS magazine.  It is published every Friday at Talkers.com.  View this week’s entire chart here.

Odds & Sods.  Two weekend of college basketball doubleheaders will be presented exclusively on radio by CBScbssportsradiologo Sports Radio.  Up first is the “Never Forget Tribute Classic” tomorrow (1210) from the Prudential Center in Newark and featuring Villanova vs Notre Dame, followed by Pittsburgh vs Penn State.  Next week, it’ll be the “CBS Sports Classic” on December 17 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, featuring Ohio State vs. UCLA, followed by Kentucky vs. North Carolina.  CBS RADIO EVP of programming Chris Oliviero comments, “It’s an honor and a privilege to be the exclusive national radio broadcaster of these can’t miss college games.  Our ongoing commitment to bringing listeners this type of content is what makes CBS Sports Radio the leader in live game coverage, expert analysis and insightful siriusxmsmallcommentary.”…..SiriusXM is offering subscribers live, play-by-play of the 2016 MLS Cup Final tomorrow (12/10) live from BMO Field in Toronto as Toronto FC faces off against Seattle Sounders FC in a bid for each team’s first MLS Cup trophy.  The match airs live at 7:00 pm ET.  SiriusXM FC’s Joe Tolleson will host the pre-game and be the play-by-play voice for the broadcast.  He will be joined by SiriusXM FC hosts. Thehedrentippi booth analyst is former MLS and U.S. Men’s National Team player Janusz MichallikBrian Dunseth, an MLS veteran and former captain of the U.S. Olympic Team, will offer sideline commentary during the match as well as post-match interviews…..Actress Tippi Hedren (right) is guesting on the nationally syndicated pet talk program, “Animal Radio” next Saturday (12/17).  Most well known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, Hedron has been a persistent crusader against ownership of exotic animals.  She’s been influential in creating laws prohibiting pet ownership of tigers and lions.  Hedron lives on the Shambala Preserve in Acton, California – home to 40-plus big cats abandoned by people who originally purchased them as pets.  She recently released her autobiography, Tippi.
