freebeer logoEric Zane Exits ‘Free Beer and Hot Wings’ Morning Show.  The national morning show “Free Beer and Hot Wings” is syndicated by Compass Media Networks but based at Townsquare Media’s rock WGRD, Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Lead personalities Gregg “Free Beer” Daniels and Chris “Hot Wings” Michaels are addressing the absence of cast member Eric Zane.  They write on their website, “We can now confirm that Zane is no longer a part of the ‘Free Beer and Hot Wings Show.’  Our parent company [Townsquare] and he have severed ties, which means that it is impossible for us to carry on with him.  We had some truly great times together and hoped that it would stay that way until the end, however we’ve been in this game a long time and that’s often the nature of the business.  He is still our friend and brother and always will be.  Details are still being worked out between all parties involved which means as of now, we quite literally are not at liberty to give specific details beyond confirmation of his departure.  This is not a scenario we ever hoped we’d find ourselves in and obviously didn’t ask for, but here we are.”

reunionLA16Fourth Music Industry Reunion Planned for Los Angeles.  By popular demand, a fourth “Music Industry Reunion” has been set by its organizers to take place in Los Angeles, following the tremendous successes of its first three installments in Los Angeles (and two in New York City).  The informal event is open to all members, past and present, of the music and music-related industries free of charge.  It will take place at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California on Wednesday evening April 20, between 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm.  The reunion is again being organized by veteran record executives Jon Scott, Greg Lee, and a committee of music industry professionals.  These events have become tremendously successful, with each of the first three drawing a larger crowd of colorful legends on both coasts than its organizers originally anticipated.  And now, according to Scott, “The demand for a fourth necessitates that we do it again.  Not only do past attendees want to come back, but also we are hearing great interest from folks around the country who missed the previous events and are planning to fly to Los Angeles.  Last October’s Big Apple installment of the Music Industry Reunion drew more than 250 people, including luminaries such as Ron Alexenburg, Johnny Barbis, Danny Buch, Harvey Leeds, Jim DelBalzo, Paul Rappaport, Judy Libow, Roxy Myzall, Tony Berardini, Patty Martin and so many more.  Scott explains, “I really thought the first Los Angeles Music Industry Reunion would just be a one-time event, but it was such a smash and the follow-up in New York was even bigger.  Now even more people keep asking, ‘When is the next one?’  I am thrilled that old music friends attend these events and have a wonderful, rare opportunity to connect with colleagues they haven’t seen in years.”  The party is free with no host food and bar – but because of space limitations, it is important to make reservations as early as possible.  For those attending from outside the Los Angeles area, a special room rate has been arranged at the nearby Sheraton Agoura Hills ($139).  To make a reservation with the host hotel please click here, or call toll free 800-325-3535 and mention Music Industry Reunion.  Members of the LA Music Industry Reunion organizing committee include: Jon Scott, Greg Lee, Joel Denver, Michael Harrison, Fred and Kirbie Croshal, Tommy and Luanne Nast, Cary Baker, Ted Cohen, Kenny Ryback, Peter Gidion, Joel Newman, Richard Chemel, Robert and Sue Emmer, and Rick Frio.  Organizer Jon Scott sums it up: “Keep in mind, this is not an ‘official’ convention or seminar being put on by an industry trade association or publication.  As a matter of fact, we have two leading trade publishers from separate publications on the organizing committee – Joel Denver of All Access and Michael Harrison of RadioInfo – and each of their publications are providing grants to help fund the expenses that the event incurs and keep it free for attendees. There is no charge, no fee, no agenda, except for seeing each other!” Scott continues, “Lots of laughs, stories, and the amazingly positive synergy of just hanging with each other!” According to Michael Harrison, publisher/editor of RadioInfo.com, “This bi-coastal annual event is the closest thing we have today to experiencing the magical sense of ‘community’ that made working in this industry so joyous and memorable during its golden era.  RadioInfo and I are honored and humbled to be partnering with the great Joel Denver and All Access in providing grants to help make it a wonderful free happening.”  All Access.com president/publisher Joel Denver adds, “Getting members of the music community together at the Music Industry Reunion to celebrate what we do, spreading the joy of music to radio in its many forms — who then share it with the public to keep the creative process going — is something that I so look forward to. My staff at AllAccess.com and I are thrilled to support this event, and to work hand in hand with our good friend Michael Harrison and RadioInfo to help defray the costs of the Music Industry Reunion.  We look forward to seeing you!”  For more information about the forthcoming fourth Music Industry Reunion coming to Los Angeles, call Jon Scott at 818-981-9876 or via email at: jonpaulscott@gmail.com.  To register click here.
