This interview was conducted by Sandi Bergman
Sandi: What did you do before becoming a media broker?
Yinger: I have been and still am owner of a group of radio stations under the corporate name, The Christian Broadcasting System, Ltd., and also, I own/operate CBSat, a satellite network.
Sandi: What influenced your decision to become a media broker?
Yinger: I have found plenty of people wanting to get into ownership that benefit from a broker that has been in their situation. I’ve worked in almost every capacity in broadcasting — talent, technical, accounting, engineering, sales….cleaning the bathrooms… you name it. This affords me the chance to really serve my clients.
Sandi: Where do you see station sales today?
Yinger: Sales prices are still low. There are a lot of great opportunities out there for the savvy buyer. It is a great time to buy.
Sandi: Highlight one of your listings that would be a good opportunity for displaced station personnel and/or first-time entrants:
Yinger: Many of my clients request confidentiality. I’ve got some great opportunities for those wishing to grow their radio portfolio or for the first time buyer. I’ve also got plenty of strong, well-financed prospects looking for their first station. But here’s a very good one I can tell you about…
Ohio — Small Market Less than 5X Cash Flow — Well-maintained Ohio AM with FM translators. Great population count. Annual cash flow over 150 thousand. This is a well-run operation. Great internet presence. Selling for under 5-times cash flow.
